Wickes
Powertools
My role: Conceptual Designer
Agency: Live and Breathe
The Wickes power tools section needed a makeover to help confused customers understand the many varieties of products on offer in Wickes. The merchandising needed to be accessible to DIY'ers choosing their first tools, giving them all the information they need and also be quick and clearly sign-posted for trades people who know exactly what they want.

I planned out individual units based around the stores existing POS, breaking down which information would be most useful to the consumer at each stage. I added in additional ideas for where we could add new elements to make choosing easier such as range dividers and units which could break down information in comparison charts. These were all designed in a galvanised steel finish.

From the top the units were clearly sign-posted with a simple range headline, below which a short descriptor paragraph to help the DIY'er identify which type of product they needed. Then individual product cards gave detailed descriptions of to help the customer make their final choice.
